By David Rogers. BOONE, N.C. — Our guy on the street, Trey Thompson, was at Appalachian State’s Randy Marion Track & Field Facility on April 6, talking with a number of Watauga High School athletes competing in the first annual Appalachian State High School Invitational.
More than 40 schools had athletes competing in the various events on this state-of-the-art athletic venue. Reagan High School (Pfafftown) and Watauga seemed to dominate in the scoring for both the men’s and women’s divisions.
With this video, Thompson — who is a year removed as a Watauga graduate and is now attending Davidson College with a major in media arts — captures much of the fun and excitement of the track meet from the perspective of students and coaches.
